~ Distorted and Contorted ~

a show by artist Tiffany Trumbo Opening May 17, 6-9:00 pm Running thru the month of May Dragonfly Salon and Gallery of Arts 315 'C' Spring St. (below & in the back of Sushi In The Raw) Nevada City, CA 95959 thedragonflysalon@yahoo.com
Her creations focus on pushing the extremes of what is normal, what is beautiful, and what is disturbing to the eye. A local of the Nevada County area, Tiffany Trumbo receives inspiration from such artists as H. R. Giger, Picasso, Dali, H. M. Hutter, Klimt, and Audrey Kawasaki. Through her art she wishes to express both sides of an object, making it seem at once right and wrong to the viewer, both positive and negative. The themes in the art are partially extracted from local culture, common conflicts, and multicultural narcotics.

Hovering on the edge of reality, The Rose Tattoo brings together a widely dispersed band of nomads, twenty in all, who hold in common their experience of travel by freight train, an ability to carry a tune, and the tattoo of a rose somewhere on their persons. Their motto is "mors ante servitium", which means "death before employment." Phillips, whose hobo moniker is "Bow Tie", will hook up with his fellow Kinghts of the Road for their annual reunion, followed by a rare series of concerts featuring six "tattoos" whose combined experience on stage and train exceeds the tenure of the last forty presidents. Each show will consist of an informal round-robin song and story swap between the participants:
Kuddie "The Feather River Kid", Mark Ross - "Smokestack", Bruce Brackney - "Haywire Brack", Bob & Diana Suckiel - "Boomer Bob & Mama Pipes", and Larry Penn -"Cream City Slim". Those sharing the stage in honor of Utah are all finely honed singers, musicains, and yarn-spinners. For Utah, a pillar of the folk world for many years, this will be a series of rare public appearances since his forced retirement for health reasons.
