A Women's Writing Salon: Archives

Jacquie
Bellon

"I settled on the San Juan Ridge 35 years ago after moving around for decades from Viet Nam where I was born, to France where I spent 6 childhood years, to Los Angeles during school years and then to the Santa Barbara backcountry making the urban rural transition.

My poetry has been included in Sierra Songs and Descants the locally published anthology of poetry and prose of the Sierra. An essay was selected to be in Wisdom of the East, an anthology of stories of compassion, inspiration and love with an introduction by the Dalai Lama. Other publications include Tundra, a journal of the short poem. I have read my work locally at Broad Street Books and at events such as Listening to the Wild, Literature Alive, and Valentine Erotique at the North Columbia Schoolhouse Cultural Center located north of Nevada City.

I am a painter mostly in the watercolor tradition with forays in oil, printmaking, and found object assemblages. My prize-winning work has shown locally and throughout California and is held in private collections.

In the last decade I have focused mostly on the practice of the Illustrated Journal, by definition an intimate and private endeavor combining the elements of painting, drawing, collage, and writing, a process I find most satisfying." -- Jacquie Bellon, Summer 2006
